Welcome to La Croix Blanche

La Croix Blanche stands as a charming historic hotel nestled in the heart of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France. With a rich heritage dating back to 1793, this establishment offers guests a genuine experience steeped in local character and tradition. Conveniently located at 81 Rue Joseph Vallot, the hotel is just steps away from key attractions such as the Brévent ski lifts and the Chamonix–Mont–Blanc train station, making it an ideal base for visitors eager to explore the stunning Auvergne–Rhône–Alpes region.

The hotel’s rooms, while showing signs of age, provide spacious and clean accommodations. Guests frequently note the welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly and helpful staff, whose attentiveness adds warmth to the stay. Unique touches, like the distinctive room keys and large windows that open wide to fresh alpine air, imbue each room with personality. Though some finishes, such as worn carpets, hint at the building’s longevity, the overall upkeep ensures a comfortable environment.

One of La Croix Blanche’s standout features is its central location, offering unparalleled ease to walk to local restaurants, shops, and transport links. Complimentary amenities like the coffee machine and water fountain in the lobby provide added convenience and hospitality. While the hotel does not offer Wi-Fi, breakfast, or parking, it compensates with its authentic charm and accessibility for families and visitors alike.

The absence of modern luxuries such as air conditioning and a fitness center might deter some, but for those seeking a stay infused with history and a genuine alpine vibe, La Croix Blanche delivers consistently. It caters well to travelers valuing atmosphere and position over contemporary design, making it a solid choice for both short visits and extended holidays.

Overall, La Croix Blanche earns a commendable rating of four stars for balancing heritage, service, and location. Its blend of old-world charm and thoughtful hospitality leaves a lasting impression, inviting guests to return and continue experiencing the magic of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.

I booked this hotel , didn't expect it to be good as it's cheap. But turn out surprisedly was very good. The staff are very nice and helpful. They also gave us free train card to travel to nearby. There's a cafe machine you can use as much as you want. The room is big (we booked the cheapest room) and very clean even though is old. The location is more than good , very very center. 5 stars for this :-)

I was only in town for one night, and it was a pleasure to spend it in La Croix Blanche. The rooms are perhaps a little dated, but I loved the character. The unique style of room key. Being able to fully open the big windows and look out. Bed was comfortable and staff were friendly. There is a lovely living room downstairs, with comfortable chairs and lamps and interesting pictures and things to look at. I spent a pleasant time there reading my book and having a drink. It's a hotel with character, and soul. The location on Rue Joseph Vallot is very central, with all the best shops, bars, restaurants on the doorstep - I recommend Fromagerie Cheese Forever! I left by bus and it's only about 10 minute walk to Chamonix Sud bus station.

Great location, great sized rooms, clean. All the amenities needed for a family holiday. We didn’t pay extra for the breakfast since they had highly limited options for our gluten intolerant family members, and no option besides fruit for the vegan. This is something I wish would be improved, since we would’ve loved to be able to eat a good breakfast at the hotel.

This hotel is very conveniently located downtown making it easy to walk to most destinations. Staff were friendly. There is access to a water fountain and coffee machine in the lobby which is nice. Only negative is the Rooms are very dated and the carpet was worn. Torn carpet on the stair runners too

The night receptionist lady who welcomed us despite our late hour was very professional and met all our expectations. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel is old but correct.
